New Swervedriver CD!!

Posted by: Rasher on 10 March 2005

Excuse my excitement, but this is my favorite band ever!
After being defunct for years, a new double CD of "Best of" type tracks called Juggernaut Rides is coming out, but most importantly with nearly all the B-sides of the singles, which were pretty difficult to get at the time, let alone now!
If anyone doesn't know Swervedriver and needs a place to start, this is it. Out 14th March. Can't wait!!
Cool

What are they like?

I was in a pub a couple of years ago, and I noticed that the music playing sounded kinda similar to Swervedriver, guitar based indie type band, but with the Swervedriver feel. After finding out what it was I went out and bought it. It was Lost Souls by Doves.
Swervedriver were a far better band though, and you can hear snippets here.
My fave all time track is Duel.
This CD coming out is my equivalent to an undiscovered Beatles album between Revolver & Sgt Pepper.
DON'T download the free versions of the albums. They are unlistenable and would put anyone off.

I don't wish to name-drop, but I was fortunate enough to meet John Peel once. He was wearing a Swervedriver T-Shirt. That's good enough for me.

I've only got the first(?) EP "Rave Down" - i think these days it would be described as Stoner Rock a la Queens of the Stone Age etc, but wearing a plaid shirt. That probably doesn't help much.

I want to go and play it now, but the system is in bits due to decorating - the colour being (purely coincidentally) Dulux "Salisbury Stones". Wonder if this will be classed as an upgrade?

kev.

This album landed on my mat yesterday, and I've been playing it today.
Apart from the previously unreleased stuff, some of the mixes on the other tracks are different from the albums, even though the sleeve notes don't say this is the case.
It's brilliant.
I'm a happy bunny. Cool
