Lost Low end bass

Posted by: Neil Fitzsimmons on 17 April 2001

I have recently gone active with An IXO plus another NAP 90 to power my Intros II's. After removing the internal crossover in the speakers I
feel I have lost the low end bass when sitting in the middle of the speakers. If I stand in the corner of the room it sounds very heavy. My speakers sit either side of a fireplace chimey stack. Any ideas to improve my low end.
I,m using naim cable throughout and have flatcaps for Preamp and CD 3.5.

Hello Neil,

It’s more or less impossible that you should have lost low end on account of going active. Sorry if I’m pointing out the obvious here and you’ve already checked this, but there are two pots at the back of the IXO, one to adjust the volume of both tweeters and the other for the volume of both mid/bass units – maybe the mid/bass pot has been turned low? Bass will sound rather overblown in the corners of most rooms, so that isn’t really any point of reference. Also have you moved the Intros precisely back to where they were before?
