RIP Astrid Varnay

I have just spotted, from the radio 3 website that the great Wagnerian soprano Astrid Varnay has died (for shame the BBC's news website for failing to notice).
She had a wonderful voice and will perhaps be best remembered for her wonderful Brunnhildes at Bayreuth in the 50s. Certainly, I think I shall go and give a little of Keilberth's siegfried a spin before the prom starts.
