I have her "Mozart Arias" (Erato). This is one of the first CDs I played on my Naim system and it blew me away The sonics on this CD are mediocre, but her voice burns through the fog.

I watched a TV documentary on her some years ago and it was said that a voice of her caliber occurs only once every 100 years.

She came to Houston (USA) three years for a benefit concert but the tickets were $300.00 (USD) a piece. We couldn't swing that.

Can you imagine hearing her live in a great hall?

i also have her mozart arias on the erato label, and agree with you that the recording quality leaves a lot to be desired, but her magic still shines through. i suspect that "Chant d'amour" will be a better recording -- i will get this next month.

there was a live performance of cecilia on sky tv artworld some time ago -- "viva vivaldi". probably one of the best shows i have ever seen. that woman has some presence.

i would kill to attend any of her live shows!!!

I saw her live at the Proms and she was indeed totally magnetic. It had been rumoured that she has a small voice and that she would have difficulty filling a venue the size of the Royal Albert Hall but this was totally unfounded and I was in the cheap seats miles away from the sassy miss.

Her Rossini Heroines is very good and well recorded on Decca - in fact I prefer her in the showy stuff.

I saw her about 10 years ago at the Barbican in London. I was sitting about five rows from the front. It was a very enjoyable concert, but she did - at that time - have a remarkably small voice, barely rising above the orchestra at times. Her voice may have enlarged since then.

ross: if the 2 recordings i have are anything to go by, her voice much have strengthened substantially over the past 10 years. she is a real woman now (whatever that means???)

Ken,she sounds wonderful. Is that a recording on the Naim label?

Another artist I rate highly for vocal ability is Sabina Sciubba on the 'Meet me in London' disc(naim cd021),where she performs with Antonio. Have you heard this? superb!

Incidently,I am from Italian parents,and speak the language,hence'Stallion'.If you ever need any help with translations,you only gotta ask! and that includes anyone else on the forum.

Yes,Ken,I did,although there are more than a few variations on regional dialect in those lyrics. Italy has more dialects than Don Corleone's.
