cecilia bartoli...

phew... i have just been listening to cecilia bartoli's "live in italy" disc. i am stunned. truly gobsmacked! where does she get a voice like that from?? some sort of goddess or what??

sometimes, sopranos have me ducking for cover as they slice your ears apart, but not this one -perhaps because she is a mezzo soprano?

".....
Fugga la noia,
fugga 'l dolore
sol riso e gioia
sol caro amore
nosco soggiorno
......."

i want more! i want more! i want more!

enjoy...

Hi Ken,

If you like "Live in Italy", check out "Chant d'amour (Melodies françaises)" (DECCA).

Ciao!

john s:

i also have her mozart arias on the erato label, and agree with you that the recording quality leaves a lot to be desired, but her magic still shines through. i suspect that "Chant d'amour" will be a better recording -- i will get this next month.

there was a live performance of cecilia on sky tv artworld some time ago -- "viva vivaldi". probably one of the best shows i have ever seen. that woman has some presence.

i would kill to attend any of her live shows!!!

many thanks for responding.

ross: if the 2 recordings i have are anything to go by, her voice much have strengthened substantially over the past 10 years. she is a real woman now (whatever that means???)

many thanks,
