What would you recommend as a couple of disks as an intro to Yello Steve?

I have the Vinyl version of 'TOUCH' on order...due out 3rd Nov so a short wait.
Mat you could try:
Make sure nothing rattles in the listening room before starting "The Eye". It is a bass monster.

Two may not be enough - but their re-masters (6 of them) are great.
Out of those six my favourite is 'Flag' as it contains several versions of 'the race'. Track 10 will give your system a very real workout and show exactly how low it can go - and more besides. Perhaps the best overall album production wise is 'The Eye' which contains the the singing of Jade Davies who should be a star but simply cannot be found elsewhere.
So there are two - but leaves out One Second which contains absolute classics like Rhythm Divine (Shirley Bassey) Moon on Ice & Life is a Snowball (Billy Mackenzie)...

Touch is amazingly well produced (no surprises there) and on the whole very 'laid back' for them. Some very nice smooth jazz in there as well.
Trademark bass is sill present where required.
Track one is unmistakably Yello - some others are a different road for them - and I like it.
Nothing smacks in the face like 'race' but a sublime listen in the mood i'm currently in.

Much as I like "Flag", IMO the best album they've made - and my main test disc for vinyl - is this one - (mine's a slightly different cover though)
I've tried "The Eye", in fact an esteemed member of this Forum gave me his CD copy 'cos he hated it, and I can't say it blows my socks off either.

Someone did... ^^^
Be prepared for a few surprises with 'Touch' some slow stuff that absolutley grows on you.
Why can't this be the minimum that albums are engineered to?
I would have to say it is a complete departure from the norm - but some tracks are very Yello... Others almost defy description.
The final track is outstanding. Egypt meets Yello.

If you have managed to get your hands on the Ltd edition double album - well done.
Looks like Caesars Palace in July 2015 is going to be the place to be for Yello fans - at least if there book is to be believed.
Currently enchanted with the voice of Heidi Happy on tr 12.

Agreed, a gem.
Billy MacKenzie lived a few doors up from me in the early 80's. Had two lovely whippets I remember.
