Musical crossword clue answer needed!
Posted by: Stephen Bennett on 14 August 2005
Hi all - I've asked this on PF too, but I do realise all the really knowledgable people are on here.

I've been doing the Q Prog special crossword and I have all the answers bar one. I've a pretty good idea what the answer is, as I have E_R_ (4 letters). However, I don't know exactly who they are talking about!
The clue is-
'Nobleman that commenced Harvest's boogie band'
('Harvest' refers to the record label)
Can anyone enlighten me? I realise the answer is probably 'Earl' but I need to know why!!
Regards
Stephen

Hi Stephen;
In the absence of any other responses - Earl Klugh?
Looks like he did some recordings on EMI (Harvest?) in the 70's and could possibly be construed as producing some boogie.
John.

Hi Stephen,
I think the answer you are looking for is the King Earl Boogie Band who as far as I know have a Harvest connection. Earl Klugh on the other hand is a nylon string jazz guitar player with no prog rock cerdentials.
The only clue I can't get is 7 down, John Peel, former Gods one? Any clues?
Cheers
Declan Gibbons.

Declan - that's very impressive. Did you know that you can hear some tracks from those ex-Mungo Jerry folks on their web site

Thanks Stephen for the Mungo Jerry link.
Any help with clue 7 down?

Still no wiser on the clue I'm after.

Declan, what's the KEBB Harvest Connection?

I cannot find a definitive harvest KEBB connection. I did a search in google and found a sampler album listing KGBB as a harvest artist but when I looked closer at their discography I can find no harvest connection. It must be too obscure even for the internet! I'd be 90% sure that EARL is the right answer but can I prove it ? No. Thanks for the TOE FIT answer. Who the heck thought that was a good name for a band?

I'll tell you - but only if you let me borrow the cape.

69 - Red 16 Sky
61 Shiva
11 Ayshea (you didn't watch UFO, obviously!)

Much appreciated. I suppose with a bit of lateral thinking I could have guessed Shiva. I'll gladly timeshare the cape - do you want me to dry clean it after use?

And wash off the Wakeman sweat & curry?
Never!
I'll only need it for recording henry fool albums anyhow...once every 5 years or so.
