Salamander Designs

I'm running out of room for all these black boxes. The LP-12 and Numerik sit on Sound Org tables, the Karik sits on the Numerik, and the 102, 250, cassette player and tuner share a Target stand. The HiCap and NAPSC sit on the rug under the Karik/Numerik. Fraim and Mana aren't in the budget.
Does anyone have first-hand experience with Salamander cabinets? Stratospheric WAF, and I like them too, but I won't pay money for anything that's sonically toxic. I plan to keep the LP-12 on an SO table in any event. Am I likely to take a beating fidelity-wise with a Salamander cabinet? confused

Salamander stands are very popular in the US for a variety of reasons; looks, modularity, the possibility of having a TV on a similar looking stand and more. The big distinction I would draw your attention to is that Salamander makes two radically different stand lines, Archetype and
Synergy. The Archetype is a cleaner lined approach, more minimalist and less flexible in moving into furniture applications than the more ambitious Synergy tier of their line. Neither would be a particularly good home for your LP 12, but of the two Synergy has a far more rigid build quality. Assuming you uses a dedicated stand or wall bracket for your Linn, I think you will achaive fairly good results with Salamander. In either tier, I would not use the castors as the feet unless it were extremely important to move your stand(s) as this will dramatically limit the stand's rigidity. The only other thing I would say is buy an extra shelf or two above your current needs so that you don't have to add a dissimilar looking stand later if you want to add and they have changed their line by that time.

Good luck.
