Help!

Further to my questions yesterday with regard to black SNAICS, I have been listening (or trying to) to my system for three days (after a ten month lay off) and despite several hours of shifting the speakers around my fairly small room (approx 14 by 10 feet) - I have come to the conclusion that the Arcs do not like my room - the bass end of things for the most part swamps everything else, even having them nigh on two feet from the walls doesn't really help and I'm not so sure anything I do with the front end, or further 'burning in' is going to change this.
I never thought I'd say I had too much bass, but I can feel it through the floor (so can the neighbours probably...) and my ears feel strange after extended 'listening'.
The room is on the ground floor and I have the speakers stood on rugs (bare floorboards) and a sofa and a couple of very small armchairs, the ceiling is fairly low also - all this I feel does not mix well with the Arcs, I'm not talking PA system bass here, just rather too much for my comfort.
Rest of system:CDI, 82 (2 hi caps) 250 stood on quadraspire.
Any advice? - I like the Arcs, especially seeing as you can (usually) chairs etc in 'the firing line' as it were. Would smaller Shahinians help? - any other suggestions?
PS I'm not rich!

Have you tried moving your listening position - i.e. away from a back wall.

I've always the listening position to have more effect than speaker position.

Fisbey, the Arcs perform best away from a wall as you clearly know. I use mine turned in at a considerable angle. This creates an amazing sound with the music being open and spacious. It also reduces the bass to a balanced level. Try putting them directly on the floor and rotating them in and out. My room is about 15x12 with a low beamed roof and a suspended floor so it can work. Keep experimenting, its worth it!

Thanks - I've been reading some past posts on the excessive bass (overhang?) and may well try mana or placing the Arcs directly on the floor - having said that my floor isn't exactly level, so mana may be best to get them level.
I must repeat I love these speakers - I almost drove my dealer to distraction choosing them after having tried various others: 'nope, these aren't right, what else can I try' - thanks to Infidelity.
Also - TV is very near the Arcs - is there any way of preventing the picture going green in one corner?.....some sort of shielding?
The advice here is most appreciated.
PS how to I contact mana and what sort of price am I looking at?
