Apple Time Capsule

Anyone using a TC as an NAS for their Uniti or HDX? I have a 1TB TC and have all of my music files backed up to this device (mp3, AAC and WAV). I have heard about the TC going kaputniks (dead, fried, whatever) after just a year or so when left on continuously. Reliability issues, compatibility issues, network problems....I'd like to know. Thanks.

My 1 TB TC is going strong nearly 2 years on. I now only use it for back-up of a couple of laptops, though. Not as a music file server. It remains in use as my router and does a great job with that.
However, I did store my primary iTunes files on it for about a year before switching to a Mini. People on this forum did suggest that using it in this way as well as for backup might not have been a great setup. The idea being that you want back-up drives to have minimal time running, and spinning up and down so they last longer.

Bought the first time capsule that came out and it is trouble free at our house. My itunes music is already backed up to CD's.

If you are using the actual time capsule as the source of your music then you need to make sure you get a back up of it.
Personally I would leave a time capsule for its intended purpose and purchase a NAS for the proper job. NASes can be got for peanuts and can become such things as itunes servers etc.
