Becker Grand Prix

I just changed the stereo in my car for the Becker Grand Prix, and I must say what a fab gadget it is.

It has built in bluetooth connectivity to the mobile phone, and it comes with a microphone, which after half an hour was neatly installed on the A-pillar with the wires all hidden behind the trim.

When someone phones you, the music stops, and you can press a button on the unit to answer, it even has caller id on the display. If you want to make a call, you can use the controls on the stereo, even dial numbers or scroll through recent incoming or outgoing calls.

Additinonaly there is great ipod support with playlist, album, artist, genre etc support. The ipod wire is a bit pricy as an extra, but well worth it.

I am not meaning to plug this product, but I was so impressed with it I thought it worth a mention. Furthermore it sound much better than the old clarion I have removed from the car, and even with thr standard speakers it sounds much better. It shows that the source is more important than the speakers. Now where have I heard that before.......

Hi Simon,

You are right - the source is so much more important than the speakers.

However, for daring to plug a product other than one manufactured by Naim you are sentenced to having to also upgrade the speakers in your car...

...to DBLs

The car in question is my Alfa Spider - not much room for bigger speakers.

In fact when I bought my Spendors, I had to borrow my wifes mini to pick them up, and even that was a squeeze.

I dont think Naim have ventured into ICE yet, but is see that the Scottish company has....Linn car stereo

If you guys had checked out some car stereo magazines you would already know that most "serious" car installations HAS speakers roughly the size of DBL's Smile

Don't they sound good too? Roll Eyes
I remember upsetting the TOAD rep at Goodwood FOS one year telling him that his multi thousand pound demo car sounded shite, a very loud, very distorted boomy rattling box.Do they not hear that? Or is it all about Spl?
