Ipod Help

My daughter has just bought the latest (4th Generation) ipod and having problems.

Everything worked fine when setting up and syncing to itunes. But every time we copy a play list from itunes to the ipod it overwrites the previous one! Any help would be most welcome, it's very fustrating with the instructions being very poor.

I believe that a bit more description may be needed to solve your problem. Are all the "Songs" being re-written, or just the Playlists? Playlists simply organize the body of songs in various ways by criteria you choose. Synchronizing should not affect the songs themselves originally placed on the iPod unless they have been deleted in iTunes. I don't actually use Playlists very much, mostly going to the "Albums" listing to get to where I want, so I may not be familiar with all of Playlists' subtleties. Anyway, if what your daughter is doing is adding songs incrementally and synching as she goes, the normal synch process should simply add the new songs/albums to the old. This situation is normally attained when, in the iPod's window in iTunes, the Options "Synch only checked songs and videos" and "Manually manage music and videos" are both not checked. Perhaps if you go either to "Songs" or "Albums" in the iPod menu window, you will see that all the songs are, in fact, present.
