'Chuck E's in Love' Lyrics. Someone Please Explain

Posted by: J.N. on 12 April 2010

"How come he don't come and P.L.P. with me"

Public leaning post? Platonic life partner?

"He was sittin' behind us down at the Pantages"

Name of a theatre chain in the USA?

The Pantages is a theatre in Los Angeles. There might be a chain now, but the original is (was?) in LA.

P.L.P. definition

It's public leaning post.

I think it originally means somewhere to hang out and literally lean against (someone), like a street corner; and in the context of the song, maybe also a person you might lean on for emotional support.

(Apologies if you knew that.)

I was clearly wrong. The LA version wasn't the first Pantages Theatre by a long way! It was actually the last! Apologies.
