PART 2: I FOUND RELIGION WITH A LP12

Posted by: glevethan on 24 February 2004

Well here is the short and sweet of it: I had a brief 10 minute audition today of the LP12 with a Valhalla and with a Lingo2.

The result: The Lingo by a mile !!!
My dealer played the following: Solomon Burke doing Sam Cookes "A Change Is Going To Come" and then Little Feat live.
Solomon Burke-The Valhalla with the first 60 seconds of the song played 2 consecutive times and then the Lingo--Just the first 10 seconds of the opening drum track showed off the difference with the Lingo.
Little Feat live-the Lingo took a messy sounding recording and cleaned it up! Soundstage-separation-the previous "mess" NOW made sense and was much more coherent.

So here is the final outcome: LP12-Lingo-Ittok-Adikt. I think that I will now be happy!!

My system is FINALLY set and put to bed: Nait5-CD5-Stageline-LP12-ProAc SuperTablettes.

The Flatcap will have to wait!

Cheers to All

Gregg,

That's something along the lines of my system, I have to say I'm curious about those Super Tablettes. ProAc often being considered the work of the devil here Wink. The first thing I did with my system, after the Stageline, was put a HiCap on the preamp. Visually the Flatcap is a better match, but you've got three places where a power supply is going to make a noticeable difference, so when your bank balance has recovered....

By the Way, does your system run on it's own dedicated mains supply ? If it doesn't then adding a separate line or lines will make the most cost effective upgrade. If you research 'spur' you'll find lot's of discussion on the subject. What you'll find with a separate spur is that your CD playback will take a leap in quality that will really surprise you. In my house, it moved CD playback to a level comparable to vinyl ... until I did some upgrades on the LP front. But even so, I find a good CD is better than a not so good LP.

Enjoy your Music.

Peter
