Fuel additive advice - please

Posted by: MontyW on 24 February 2005

Hi there,

Just had another run in with my local Peugeot dealer! The car 307 D-Turbo, age two and a half years old and mileage £48. Full Peugeot service history.

Latest problem: - It needs a minimum of 4 ltrs of fuel additive @£24.00 + VAT/Ltr and approx' 2 hours labour at £120.00 + VAT. Apparently this fuel additive is injected prior to the particle filter in the exhaust.

Questions: - Should this problem of a lack of fuel additive not have been picked up at the 48k service when they ran the diagnostics only 10 days ago?

Can I get this additive replaced at any other garage and therefore much cheaper?

A Peugeot mechanic stated this problem was rare - so should it not be covered by warranty? He remarked he has seen it on cars with over 120k miles on them.

Any advice welcomed.

Thanks,

Dave
