buzzing

Iwonder if anyone out there has a solution for a slightly annoying buzzing from one of my supercaps, they have had the transformers checked by two differant Dealers and both said that they were tighened up to Naim's spec.It is intermitant and I think Mains induced but that still does not stop it annoying any ideas please
System is :- dedicated mains supply,CDS , 52,NAXO2-4 ,HIGH CAP , NATO2 , a pair of 250'S
SBL'S ,SONDECK ,ITOK, AT09

You have 2 Supercaps, 1 for the NAXO I assume.

Have you tried swopping them around? what happens then? Does the same SC buzz?(transformer hum I assume we are talking about).

If the same one hums/buzzes then at least you have eliminated cable routing/dressing issues as a possible cause. If the other one now hums/buzzes then Cable interfearance or earthing might be your problem (though you wouldn't normally expect an earth loop problem with a separate spur)

the supercaps are to power the CDS and the 52 THE HIGH CAP IS FOR THE NAXO2-4 , We have in the past tried swapping them around to no avail.
Both of the dealers thought that the problem was the transfomer, possibly reacting to dirty mains. if the only answer is to move then I'll have to live with it

Dear James
Point taken,I was originally informed that that the CDS power supply and super caps were to all intents and purposes the same, but more importantly do you have a suggestion as to how I can cure this annoying buzz

Oldie,

I think you can get an earth loop between the Sondek and the CD player - are they both connected to earth? - this would give you a sporadic hum and would probably muck the music quality up as well.

Id suggest to try disconnecting the Sondek from the preamp, and see how the CDP sounds.

Hope this helps!
