Hello folks,

I know this turntable is not common in Naim setups, but did by chance anybody had a listen to this and tell me some things on how it performs ?

kind regards,
Hartmut

Hartmut,

This guy had an SME 20 in a full-Monty active Naim system. Send him an e-mail for details.

Hi, eventually I had a listen to SME20/SME V/Ortofon MC 7500 at a dealer's place. Honestly, I did not like the results: sterile, overdamped, not swinging or singing, call it with one word: boring. There was a smaller turntable (German acrylic turntable, but not one of the more known brands) standing by, which was cheaper and made more fun, but wasn't perfect, either.

Jean-Christophe,

I had the LP12 from 1984 to 1989 and then again for 3 months last year. While I like how it is singing, in my opinion it is essentially flawed: it sounds veiled, definitely.

My main turntable since 4 years is the famous German Scheu turntable (see http://www.scheu-analog.de), with special 100mm high platter weighting 10kg, with changing tonearms every week. My secondary turntable for wife and living room is a mint condition Thorens TD124-1 with SME 3012-2 and Denon 103.

In the meantime, I tried a Voyd the Valdi (in every respect better than an LP12, but less singing).
