Nv-i Problems

Posted by: GJM on 20 October 2006

I received my second NV-i tiday after a faulty first unit. I have just spent 3 hours attempting to set u the Nv-i. It is the most frustrating process i have experienced. Today's problem involve not being able to set speaker distances - the distance keeps resetting to 0.0 and I am unable to scroll up to a correct distance. Generally the remote control is hopeless, the unit keeps asking me to reset it by turning power on and off, and generally the support documentation is not helpful. I fell I have bought a lemon - help!

Blimey. That does sound like a bit of a lemon. I've not seen that sort of willful truculence since my first unit. For me those issues were fixed in my #2 and #3 boxes. My only bugbear now is a digital optical switching glitch which is (I hope!!) in hand.

What firmware version are you? Press and hold "Prog" on the remote for five seconds and it's diepslayed on the front panel.

GJM,

can you mail me via Adam at:- info@naim-audio.com, please quote serial number and if you can, firmware revision (see Duncan's post above to get this)

-The resetting of distance to 0 is known about, it will be fixed shortly.

You can use the front panel menu to set up levels/distance:-

-press and hold "setup" on remote
or
-press and hold "mode" button on front panel

front panel will show menu

You can then use the front panel buttons or remote to adjust values.

Duncan,

The details on firmware as follows:

PIC d02.01
Cheers 2.6.6.182
DAB Not Fitted
Region 2

The small display continually splits any data across multiple lines, making it difficult to read.

Thanx for you help.

Garry,

Strange about the speaker settings behaviour. I have the same firmware in my box and it is fine. I *did* have problems with setting the speaker distances with my first box, none since. One for your dealer/Naim I think.

Adam,

Looking at the thread pruning I guess that neither the "H" word nor anything related can be mentioned? Maybe the AUP in the FAQ needs updating. Winker

Garry,

In answer to your question try Googling what you are after but with reference to the DVD5. It's out there. Oblique enough hopefully Adam? Winker

This sounds like you have a faulty display.

Hello, I've had the same problems with my nvi...(also the second). This unit had the same problems with the settings in distance and also keeps resetting the 0. Have you already bought yours ?
