Mozart 40 cd box set any good this version?

saw this set today at £12.99 in The Works Book shop in Birmingham, I was wondering if anyone had brought one of these at all, I passed on it since I was not sure of the quality of the recordings. Any help much appreciated.

Lee,
Unless you are short on coffee mug holders, don't waste your money on this. Honestly couldn't tell you if any of this is good, but it is certainly obscure.

Ignorance abounds.
A couple of years ago I bought the same company's 170 Cd complete works of Mozart for £40 based on the recommendation of several extremely knowledgeable posters on here and am delighted by it, as were they.

Sorry about the earlier post - it's not my business to keep people from enjoying music. Won't happen again.

I think you are referring to the Brilliant Classics complete Mozart box, but this is about the Am@do 40 CD Mozart box.
The recordings in this Am@do box are variable as was to be expected, but the recordings of the complete Piano sonatas and the complete Piano concertos (by Carmen Piazzini) are among the best I know, and in its own right more than justify a purchase of this box.

I have a 20 cd set that looks very like that picture. It cost a tenner or so from Bargain Books a few years ago and generally sounds superb. I'm astonished that people who've spent thousands on a record player will balk at risking a tenner on some of the most beautiful music ever written, or conversely who expect to get the best ever recording for that price.
Surely a load of Mozart is value for money whether or not it's the best ever recording.
