For the ladies

Posted by: Analogue on 14 March 2006

Would our female Naim/music lovers like to introduce themselves and their systems?

Just thought I'd move this topic from where it was......on top of 'who do you sleep with?'

Didn't look too clever and I didn't think you'd get many replies.....

Cheers,
Ali

Analogue,

I gotta say this is one of the worst 'pick up line' I have heard. Roll Eyes

I think the ladies are endorsing the myth that hi-fi is a 'male thing'?

Hi
I just don't believe that there aren't any women who do not wish to get the best from their record collections.
Why should this be a 'male thing'?

Hey Chris, I take it you're not overly familiar with women then?

Because women aren't as anally retentive (as they say) as men. Lots of women love their music and have decent systems but I just don't think they're into the minisule worrying that us men do.

There are 4 times as many men with autism as women and 9 times as many men with Asperger's syndrome as women. As this is all a sliding scale of the same condition, you can only imagine the male to female ratio of the mild form that we hifi nut's exhibit!

The main symptoms we're talking about here are an obsession with systemisation and categorisation of our world to the exclusion of 'normal' behaviour. Sound familiar? Hifi interest is exactly this.

For instance we are told that a nice stable platform will make a system sound better than if it is piled up on the carpet. Everyone agrees. The further up the Asperger scale you are the more you become obsessed with the level of stability/rigidity of support materials etc etc etc etc. The sufferer convincing himself that he can hear the difference when following his obsessions is all part of the condition (behaviour justification).

Might write a paper on it one day.

He's right you know.
Women tend to flock together, meet up, socialise, go out, do things, gossip - they are a more close knit community. Blokes tend to go their own way alone and maybe meet like minded men that become friends, but not anything like women. We tend to stand alone. If it was a female dominated world, we probably wouldn't have wars; religeous or otherwise, crime would be virtually unheard of and politically, compassion would be the top issue. OK, we might have shit TV, but the world would overall be a better place. I was actually chatting to my next door neighbour over coffee about it only yesterday, and she said...blah, blah, blah.......

Dear Rasher,

Your assessment is about right, I reckon! Women have more sense! But not being a woman myself, I reserve the right to a bit of male madness, for all that. Vive La Difference! It would be a dull old world if everyone was female, would it not! Roll Eyes

Good to see there is at least one woman on this forum who defies all stereotypes, a senior member even.

So, you and I are the only blokes on the planet. Dull? I might cope with it. Smile
