[New Lingo] LP12 vs new P9
Posted by: Tim Jones on 04 November 2002
My LP12 and I have reached a crossroads. It's Valhalla'd and Cirkus'd, and experienced a serious upgrade when its original Ittock was replaced by an Aro two years ago. It sits on a Mana Reference table.
I am actively considering a new P9. Hope to hear one next week, but grateful for any observations from anyone who has heard one.
I did audition the original P9 three years ago, but was unimpressed by what seemed to be a rather flat, 'matter-of-fact' presentation, which did away with LP12 colourations at the expense of involvement. Is the new one significantly better?
Alternatively, I could get the new Lingo and (say) a Rohmann to replace the current DV17D2. But does the new Lingo suffer from the same mains interference issues as the old one? Or have they implemented some kind of Weekes-mod?
Thanks
Tim J
