Well, after a tough few years.....

We've bought ourselves a present. Ok, I could have bought some great naim stuff but my old Bora was wearing out quickly and after having an E class hire car for a week last month...... well, this C250 CDi Sport was a simple choice.

Yes, I was very tired when my father in-law took this pic!

A moodier pic:

I think I'm in love again! Would love a V6 petrol (or V8 of course) but the fuel usage would scare me.

Nice one. Enjoy.
Blank the No plate though?

Nice!
My nearly 20-year-old MB 600SE V12 still runs pretty well, but the gas price! Ouch!

I could and maybe should blank the number plate, but I'm not sure why!

It was advice I got some where, it means any neer do well knows it's a valid plate.
Mind you they could just go out side I guess, and scope one.

Imagine at UK gas prices?

Very nice Tony! A new car always makes you feel good.

I've never quite understood the bit about blanking number plates out in photos either.

It's not as if someone will flag me down and tell me I'm that freaky nutter on the Naim forum, is it..?

Anyway, Tony. Are we still on for a natter on a Friday afternoon sometime soon? I need to show the Mercedes what a decent replay sounds like!

Nice Tony.I particularly like the colour.

The new C class is the first M-B I've ever looked at and imagined I could own. Maybe I am getting old but I've seen some nice AMG'd estate versions that I thought looked great!

Enjoy.

nice motor, i have just recieved a Mercedes sprinter for work lovely drive. I may very well be looking for a Mercedes Estate for a family runner.

I'm not a huge Mercedes fan(lower end machines) along with other "premium" german cars they seem very expensive for what is basically a taxi! They do the job with no value add for me.
When we did Mercedes "breakdown" cover we had to cover the breakdown cars quite a bit too.

We did mainly only have C class and the baby sports car though. A few S class.

As ray says though the new Sprinter vans are very good, almost makes you want to take a vehicle out, that is something some other manufactures could heed.

Sorry Tony nothing against your choice, but like music and hi-fi , it would be a boring world if we all came to the same conclusions.
Oh and I'm jealous. Smile

Gulp - you must indeed be much richer than I {said in a Harry Enfield type Birmingham accent}.

Great car. C class is lovely. Drove an upgrade rental Merc S-class diesel to Silverstone in 09. What a machine. Smooth powerful engine and surprising mileage. Unfortunately, diesels not very common in the U.S.

Enjoy

Hi all, and thanks for the comments. So far I've covered about 400 miles and am liking the car more and more. The seats are incredibly comfortable, and this was a major factor in our choice of car. I'm 6ft 4, and my back gets a hard time at work!
The Mercedes reliably issues late last, and early this year, were mainly to do with the Delph piezo diesel injectors. Delph thought they knew better than Mercedes in regards to spec, and Mercedes ended up buying the company. Hopefully all that is behind them.
Not one rattle, squeak or buzz yet. Reasonable economy for a tight engine. Some attractive ladies have even given me, not the car, a second look followed by a smile. :-)
Don't worry, I'll report the negatives when they occur.

Tony,

Mercs are terrific cars. I've had nothing else for about 30 years.

I sold my S Class last year (we used to have 3 cars) 4.2L and 28 mpg. Beautifully smooth ride and power.

I am now driving my wife's old 124 series 230TE estate. Over 21 years old (we've had it for over 15 years), unmarked inside and out. 30 mpg and still quiet as a mouse at 80 mph.

Mrs D has had a C Class 220CDi for about 5 years now and adores it. Pale blue metallic with leather interior. Even I like it. Obviously not as roomy as the E class or the S class, but still plenty big enough and the engine is certainly agile. The best bit? 70 mpg (if i'm careful), otherwise 60+mpg

I'm sure you'll enjoy yours as much as we've enjoyed ours.

Cheers

Don
