Sea Angling

Anyone into this madness???
Of late I have an urge to clean the dust from an old beachcaster and see if I can pull in a cod or two.
Maybe I'll think twice once I've stood on the beach in an onshore force 5 in the middle of December!

I thought from your title you meant fishing from a boat. I think you're talking about "surfcasting", which I do from time to time.
always keep an eye on the sea - especially if you're rock-fishing.
it's very relaxing, and fun to boot. I'm no expert, and don't catch a lot lately - for me its about getting out there.
the new 'superline' is great - I use the berkley stuff on the recommendation of my brother who is an expert.

Hi Dobbin,
The shore/pier fishing at Hastings is very good and worth a try.

hi dobbin
10 of us went out on a boat yesterday, a great day out.
i do a lot of coarse fishing (3 times a week on av) but have never done this, indeed we were all 1st timers.
the technical side of the fishing is as simple as it gets, none of the mind boggling set ups we use for carp and pike fishing.
we went out from brighton and fish were caught by all including a small tope.
one word of warning the sea was a bit choppy for us land dwellers and 6 out of 10 of us provided extra "groundbait" over the side of the boat, fortunately i was not one of them.
think i'll go pike fishing now.
