Series 5 with royd abbott?
Posted by: jho on 29 July 2002
I am thinking of changing from totem to royd or epos 14, anyone tried this combination? Can you give me some advise?
In my previous post, i tried different placement of my totem, soundstage is fantastic but still a bit lack in bass department.
I am using CD5/112/150. Thanks

I've never heard the Abbot on the end of 5-series gear, although I suspect it would be find. The Abbot seems to be pretty easy to drive (I once listened to it with a Cambridge A500).
I have, however, heard the Epos 14, and it's very good.
One thing, though: I think you might be better off getting a Flat-Cap2 before changing your speakers. The Totem Model One shouldn't be too bad with bass (although it will never be as good as those other two speakers). Regardless, the Flat-Cap2 is still your best choice for the next step.

Yep, his lyrics may be trite and banal*, but the Hanson man's advice is sound.

At the risk of provoking a stand war, what you got your gear on ? If you've got any squidgy stuff supporting anything, it's time to take it out of the system, and then readjust speaker postion to get the right sense of scale.
