What film have you seen recently?

Yes I know there is a 'what DVD have you watched recently?' thread in the home theatre room but there are others ways to watch a film and whoever goes into the home theatre room?
Here is one I watched yesterday at the cinema (JWM would love it - I know I did)
Into Great Silence

saw "fracture" last night, ryan gosling and tony hopkins. fun courtroom / murder drama. nice plot twists. not great cinema (a few plot problems, but this is hollywood....) but quite entertaining. last week saw "grindhouse" (maybe not a good film for you english fellows, i know you can't take a lot of excitement). i really enjoyed seeing kurt russell portraying an older bad guy. the best aspect is of course rose mcgowan w/ the prosthetic machine gun. cheers

Went to see'Other Peoples Lives',the award winning film about life in East Germany when the Stasi (secret police) were in full swing. Absolutely essential viewing, and a rivetting film to boot.

The Lives Of Others: brilliant, saw it on Saturday. A bit of a forgotten period of history that only Jeremy Isaacs will cover.
Excellent acting and like you said, rivetting.

I went to see 'The Lives of Others' myself yesterday in a packed cinema. Wonderful film - I agree it is 'essential viewing'.
The day before I saw 'Curse of the Golden Flower' at the cinema which is easily the most stunning visual feast I have ever seen. I did not enjoy it as much as the directors previous film 'House of Flying Daggers' but there were still plenty of deeply impressive scenes which will prompt me to buy this on DVD later.

Very well made movie of 1953. The book which I read twice as a teenager is excellent too.

The Cruel Sea - Jack Hawkins is simply superb and it's Donald Sinden's finest hour. One of my top ten films!
(Geek detail for UK viewers - The Cruel Sea was produced by Leslie Norman, father of celebrated film critic Barry - and why not?)

"28 weeks later"; a little too plausible. last week, "fracture" (competent crime drama), week before, "grindhouse" (a must-see unless you don't like zombie movies, and if you don't, well, fwkk u).

Excellent, thought provoking and moving film.
Interestingly, I have just spent the last 2 days working with someone whose brother was a Lt in the Stasi and who had to handle informers.

The History Boys, watched it once then watched it again a couple of nights later. Never done that with a film before.
