Travelling around Europe - best websites to find hotels

I hope to be doing some travelling in Europe late April/early May - inter-railing!

I'm a bit too old to slum it in a hostel, but reasonale 2** hotels - basic but clean - are fine by me.

The number of websites for hotels is overwhelming! Can anyone recommend some reliable sites to look?

I have found TripAdvisor.co.uk to be a good place to view other peoples opinions of hotels worldwide.
Plus they have good links to various booking agencies.

laterooms.com has some great deal at times, but you do need to put a bit of effort in with the searching.

another vote for Tripadvisor, and also Booking.com is very reliable for reviews. Oh and if you are going by train, you probably know about www.seat61.com?
