Ringmat tweak

Maybe some of you there use ringmats on your turntables.
If you use the version with a rubber base and plastic spacers you might find this benifical.
I found that the spacers don't fit properly in the wedge on the rubber base mat that is supposed to hold them to stop them moving.
If you put a piece of sellotape on the top spacer and tape it to the platter to stop it moving round I found that you get a much crisper and smother sound with noticably less surface noise.
I tried it with the ringmat itself but it seams to deaden the sound , as the ringmat is designed to be isolated from the spacers.
Try it and see costs nothing.
