Mac Virus

Careful out there you Mac users. New virus alert. Details here.

Here we go.
I'd like to have one of those viruses spreaders in a room for 30 minutes.
Alone.

Virus writers are like HIV positives sleeping around. Except that virus writers are 20 stone, puss-weeping, teenage arseholes with whom nobody of either sex (not even an 80-year-old, male nymphomaniac just released from a life-term in jail for shagging several rotting corpses) would ever sleep with. (Unless they were senile, blind, deaf and had no sense of smell, taste, or pride)

Fortunately modesty forbids me from saying what I really think about them!

They really make me angry!
Why spending hours writing a program to destroy other people serenity?
Even MAC now!
Posted on: 17 February 2006 by markfs
So, Nime, a bit annoyed then?
Posted on: 17 February 2006 by Nime
Who me? I would cheerfully enjoy watching Bill Gates getting serially arse-fucked by the entire world's virus writers on a live American Christian TV channel. Did I leave anybody out?

Its not a virus its a trojan horse.

In order to run the computer user has to double click it, and type in their user name and password. To be honest this should start alarm bells as the file looks like a JPEG which would not require the password.

However this is the first known Trojan for Macs and can only now get worse. Sigh.

For those that don't have it, goto www.macupdate.com and download clamVX its a free anti virus/trojan/worm software for OSX, it actually works without destroying your computer, unlike Norton.

Norton alert. It killed mine, and now I am expecting the loaned model I have to die [from a virus, I guess], but I live dangerously sometimes! Fredrik

Jeeez, im all norton'd up.

What is bad with norton software? What should i watch out for?
Posted on: 18 February 2006 by Gianluigi Mazzorana
They are always late with virus definitions update.
Anyway the soft just hook your system up and make it slower.
When you try to unistall the all stuff start doing strange things.
If you are a genuine XP user there are some offered antivirus soft to have full working on trial for several months.
Saved money.

I did read that norton software used to be good, until symantec bought them.

My computer is SLOW, not what you'd expect from a 3.2ghz chip and 2gb of memory, the thing is always a pain in the arse.
Mind you, the disk is 52% fragmented.
I've tried to defrag before but after whole weekends of defragmenting it gets to 55% completed, then freezes.

I want to do a complete wipe and reload, but maybe that would be a waste of time, considering the software i'm using.

Are there any good O.Ss out there?

Completely wrecked my last PC trying to uninstall the bloody thing.

It's because it install itself in the system files and sometimes replace them.

I am talking about Norton on Macs not PCs I have no idea how they are on PCs.
Posted on: 18 February 2006 by Guido Fawkes
I wouldn't use Norton AV on my Mac it has a bad track record. Last year Symantec admitted that a serious security flaw has affected about 40 of their products, including all versions of Norton Anti-Virus (NAV) for OS X. Symantec called this a 'high risk' vulnerability that could allow a remote user to gain control of a Mac. It may have been fixed by now, but I'm not taking that chance.

I've found the Mac performs much better without Norton AV. The program Garyl recommended, clamVX, is much safer and it's free, and it doesn't consume large amounts of resources.
