Sony HDD/DVD Front End

Anybody using one of these Sony RDR-HXD995 . Or similar as a Hard Drive front end.

Would I be correct in assuming CD’s can be copied from DVD drive to hard drive, audio digital output can be sent to a DAC and music can be selected using TV screen.

Are there any drawbacks.

No internet track tagging or album artwork.
Probably restricted to pcm/wav recording only.
Probably clunky in navigation, fine for a few videos, maybe not so great for handling 1000s of music files.

These are all assumptions drawn from experience of my 5 year old Tosh HD recorder.

Thanks for the advice. I have looked into a couple of the points you mentioned.

The recording quality is 48kHz PCM. The maximum number of tracks that can be stored on HD is 999.
