SBL Upgrade

Posted by: Tony Lockhart on 05 February 2001

I'm considering taking the plunge and buying SBLs but have just one reservation. With my Intros at high level with bass heavy music the floor in our rented, 250 year old cottage begins to hum along. There isn't much we can do about the floor, and to be honest, this problem doesn't occur very often. I would appreciate any advice though on whether SBLs would make this any worse at similar levels. Thanks.

I posted yesterday with regard to my experience with SBLs in the context of being compared to Keilidhs. I have them on loan for a week and even though they are no where near 'broken in' they are utterly superior in every way. The reason I wanted to try Sbl's is because I have a woodedn floor and the Linn's were getting boomy on certain tracks. This became more and more annoying (we recently moved house), the sbl's don't do this but yet produce comparable bass when driven by a 250. Go for it they are fabulous speakers.

Thank you, everyone. Now then, which finish...?

Hi Tony,

I have a pair in Black Ash. They look great with the rest of the Naim gear.

Ciao!

I have some in Rosewood that I honestly think sound better the Walnut ones I had a while ago. Look nice too in a red kinda way.

I think Cherry is the best finish, Beech is too light, Walnut does not look like wood and Black Ash is....Black Ash.
