DVD 5

Posted by: hutchies on 30 January 2007

Very new to Naim DVD5, it was working OK on a normal philips CRT tv (scart connection)
My son has pushed the "clear" reset button, and now the message "cant play DVD wrong region" is coming up.
Have read the instructions cant see the solution
Could someone please help!.
(I bought naim HiFi because there are no buttons or adjustments, I hoped this would be the same)

hutchies,

This is not normal. The reset procedure does not affect region settings.

mail info@naim-uk.com or get your dealer to contact us for a solution.

Thanks to both of you.
Will do as you suggest.
Whilst I am here....I will be buying an LCD HD TV, the Sony Bravia(?) what is the best connection method to the DVD/AV2 is it scart?
(Sorry I am not the most technical guy, but trying to get my head round the different formats(?)..is there a simple web site?
Thanks Simon

Simon,

You'll probably want to use either the HDMI connector on the Sony (from the DVI on the DVD5), or the component inputs on the Sony.

They may look different, so best to try out both before you decide on which to finally go with.

I use HDMI into my Panasonic LCD, though the component is marginally better. It leaves the component free for my xbox360 however and it was easier to obtain a good 8m HDMI cable for me.

Don't use the SCART as it's lower performance than the other 2. The DVD5 manual rates the performance in order for you.

Roy.

Component and DVI output will give you progressive modes.

SCART and S-Video are interlaced outputs.
