Quandary? what to partner my CD 3.5 with
1: New Nait 5 or
2: S/H NAC 72 and new NAP150?

Depends how much you value a remote for the amp I guess. Or how many boxes you are limited to
From a purely sound quality perspective then the 72/150 should give you more, Why not go 72/180 both s/h these are readily available. and this gives you various upgrade options (HiCap etc)
What speakers are you driving?

I have parted company with my Epos ES 22's in a marital split, and i auditioned an exquisite pair of B+W805 nautilus yesterday and the sound was to die for, but alas finances are restricted to amps only at the mo and a borrowed pair of old old wharfedales!!!

If finances are tight why not pick-up a s-hand Nait-3 to use as a stopgap until you can afford something better. They're 'cheap as chips' and you'll be able to resell it later for (probably) no less than you paid for it.
