I'm utterly knackered

Posted by: Martin M on 21 June 2001

My whole body aches! My hands hurt! My eye-sight is shot and my nerves are frayed. Thanks to setting up my DBLs followed by my amps, CD player & LP-12. And last but no means least a Mana Reference table. Crikey, I need a beer. The Rosewood DBLs look stonking by the way. Pictures as soon as I recover the ability to pick-up a camera (or anything else for that matter). What a tease...

I can't listen to it. To say that there is some serious lightening around here would be an understatement....

Glad you enjoyed the John Martyn. Its rather good isn't it? Also bought a Mana Reference table. Its was easy to set-up after I junked the instruction sheet and followed JWs tips of the Mana forum.

Well done Martin, particularly on getting the stuff successfully transported across the Atlantic.

The last mile is alway the longest, as you've found out with the electrical storms. You do right to err on the side of caution.

Let's hope the Deebles don't need any re-positioning.

Martin

Congratulations on your new rosewood babies. The pictures would be nice...now get that camera quickly...

You'll also have to be ready for the sleepless nights; these babies don't sleep much. big grin

Be careful with them Manas though; they have an alarming propensity to not being set up right, especially when them shoulders, arms and legs keeping aching during the tinkering process...

Good listening into the night; the music's still groovin'.

Pictures will be forthcoming ASAP.

Ken, I had SBLs - Ade Archer has them now. I found the photocopied sheet didn't help me get the stand working propoperly, whereas with John Watson's 'how to' from the Mana forum (followed from the 'Mana disaster' thread here) it couldn't have been easier. Bear in mind you'd be better off asking you average cat about things mechanical than myself. Inept is probably too light a word....

Philip. Good point, I normally give the setup a checkover after a few days to make sure everything is still OK and to make sure I didn't miss anything out.

Andrew - well last night the lighning was striking about half a mile from my house and lights were dimming in time to the lightning strikes. I just watched it from an open window. Some things can be even more impressive than DBLs!

Meanwhile, Tower records is open till midnight so a purchase of Wicked Grin by John Hammond & the re-mastered Rastaman Vibration by Bob Marley (amongst others) may have to be made!!
