Brian, having tried these programs (WINMX,KaZaa etc); i now use a variation of the original BitTorrent client= ABC.
no advertising and no sneaky wee programs installing without your knowledge,i'd recommend you have a go with ABC.

I've had a look at suprnova but it keeps disappearing. Heard all kinds of awful things about Kazaa, so I've not even taken a look at it.

Someone was telling me the other day that WinMx isn't bad and has no spyware, so I took a look at it on this blokes PC and it doesn't look bad. Don't have a clue what's going on in the background though so I'm not too sure that I want to install it on mine. Never heard of the one you're telling me about here. I'll take a look for it.

I only download live bootleg stuff and I've found that WinMX is far better for that than any of the others I've tried (Kazaa and a couple of others whose names I've forgotten). I've had no problems with spyware but run Ad-Aware and Spybot regularly anyway.

use the lite version of kazza, it is free of spyware. I tend to use soulseek, also hear direct connect is good too.
