The new 115V power cord costs $25 retail and is available from Naim Audio dealers in the U.S.

It is, at present, exclusive to products distributed by NANA/NaimUSA in the States. We have limited stocks beyond those required for new equipment cartons.

It is a 5 dollars cord priced for $25. What a sad story...

David,

I found the new NANA cord works great with an Olive kit.
It adds more weight all around but it does not slow down the music at all.
It sorts out the bass notes better whilst adding more substance up to. I find it makes an Olive system better balanced over all.

Try one.

OK it sounds better. Does the new AC cord look any different from the old one? (not that this matters other than being able to distinguish between the two)

It is an unfortunate reality of our hobby that items are priced at what manufacturers/retailers believe they can get away with for the results achieved, rather than their actual cost to manufacturer. In other words, if a cable that costs $30 to manufacture can improve the sound of a system as much as a $4,000 power supply, dealers will not feel bad asking $1,000 for that cable, and many people will buy them.

Bottom line on the NANA cable is, if the improvement is there for listeners to hear and is felt to be significant, many will be more than happy to spend the $25. So what if it atually costs $5 or $1 for NANA to buy them from the manufacturer. Afterall, they must have spent quite a bit of time and money trying various a.c. cables, before coming up with one that they felt was an improvement over the stock a.c. cable supplied from Salisbury.

When I recently showed a DIY friend a picture of the inside of an XPS and told him how much it cost me, he simply laughed. He said that the component cost was way less than 10% of what I paid. Naturally, when people talk that way, they do not consider the R&D costs, the amount of components that Naim throws away in order to keep up their high standards, nor all the people in the food chain that need to earn a decent living to make the whole operations sustainable.

regards,

Joe

The thicker cord in front is the new one next to the original PC.
Also, the plug is different.

Mr Dever

Is it worth installing this cord in a Nait 2?

Mr. Dever,

Should you increase my repair bill? ;-)

"Is it worth installing this cord in a Nait 2?"

We will not be doing this, no. (And yes, Dave, we'll send you a batch–e-mail your requirements.)

Has the UK power cord changed too? (very likely).
Has Graham's started using the new AC cord for its Hydra?

Hi Dave-

Contact your dealer to order the cables.

The new cord (the TIBIA) has been a hit in many different systems. We waited to let it out until a lot of different customers who are good listeners and own very revealing systems signed off on it, after we had done extensive comparisons in our own systems, and at dealerships, and in the UK.

In combination with the Cablepro NANA powerstrip, this cord seems to be an upgrade for all US systems at a reasonable cost.

Well, it is time for Naim to develop some black magic for some petty cash. The company is selling cables and power cords just like the rest of the industry Big Grin

Will do. Thanks Dave.

My goodness, do you cynics really believe that Naim is going to release a new product that does not provide valuable improvement over its predecessor? If they came across a better power cord and didn’t offer it as an upgrade, would that make you happy? What about the new Burndy when it came out or the soon to be released interconnect – should they just can those improvements? The price range of aftermarket cords makes $25 about as inexpensive an upgrade as you could ask for.

to quote Dave Dever NANA

"sad story...for those north of the border"

Yah right on...why do Canadians pay like 15-20%
OVER the going exchange rate for Naim, than Americans? Add on our taxes of oh...13-15% and it is sad.

Anything more than $30.cdn is pure ripoff...which is the way it has been for quite some time now.

Kuma, thanks for the pic on the previous page, I'm much more tempted now to shell out the bucks.
