52 IN PLACE DIVORCE IMMINENT

Posted by: Sean P on 31 March 2002

New 52 in place since Thursday so I am as happy as the proverbial pig in sh*t. Two questions for 52 users out there.

1. I am considering powering my Stageline of the 52’s socket 2. Do I use a standard black Sniac or is it the lavender. Can I expect an improvement or otherwise from the flatcap that powers the Stageline at present

2. I did a search on Ron Toolsie parasitic powering of a prefix from one of the 82’s power sockets on the supercap. Can this work with a Stageline if so what are the cabling and connection arrangements. Can I expect an improvement powering the Stageline this way.

Will post a review once the 52 has settled in at present I am splitting my time between listening to music and starting the long slow process of building up my “Brownie points” with my wife. “Brownie points” took a serious dive into negative equity when she learned how much the 52 cost.

Thanks for your help in advance

Careless to say the least.

One BIG adavantage of the original Naim style is that ALL THE BOXES LOOK THE SAME!!! so you only have to explain things (but never prices!) when the box-count increases. Even then, there's a fair chance of getting away without explanation if the other half's ability to count is standard.

With the 552/500 being produced in a new style box, further up-grades could prove difficult. No doubt the Naim PR department weighed this up before changing the house-style? cool

Cheers

Black SNAIC to power Stageline from 52.

If you power it from a dedicated p/s; (which improves performance and does not degrade other sources through the 52) you need a special 4 pin to 5 pin 'lavender' to go from p/s to any 'normal' input in the 52.

The 5 pin SNAIC, then goes from Stageline to p/s.

Got it?

I'm deeply concerned about the obvious sexism apparent in this thread.

I suggest we take it down the hall before any of the more 'right-on' chaps suffer catastrophic cranial instability.

Honesty
Its the best policy especially where finances are concerned in a marriage.

First time in 24 years she has even raised an ebrow about my black box purchases. However its also the first time I went ahead ordered and bought without consultation on finances before hand. Doh.

J.N Stageline sounds better off 52 than flatcap

Dear All

When it comes to that Peculiarity the WIFE.

In my experience having a good hifi system is far preferable for several reasons.

You dont have to house feed and water a hifi system.

Give it a ,oh hang on yes you do.........

You also have to buy software for hifi , but you have to clothe the wife in order for her to be
seen in public acceptably.

You can sell your hifi which will have a market value, but a wife will seek compensation for all the distress caused by you favouring the hifi over her. This costs big time..........

You can change the type of hifi relatively easily, but a wife has financial and legal implications in order to achieve the same ends.

So when it comes to having a house to house a hifi or a wife i feel that the hifi is preferable as the emotional rewards can be great and the financial costs can be controlled.

PS a cleaner / House Keeper is also cheaper than a wife and will also do what you ask of her.

Yes i am divorced,
