Polish Vodka? Part the Second.

The old thread was a deal of great fun for me, and as I am having a Birthday Party this weekend, I had hoped to revitalise the old Thread, which may be found here:
Polish Vodka?
Now consigned to being history, it still has much warmth and humanity in it, and hopefully we can carry on talking about such wonderous moments as we did then in this thread from now on!

The old Alvis 12/50, which I saw being fuelled up [it struggled to take 30 GBP's worth in its bulk-head mounted tank] was this exact model:
..., which is a 1926 TE 12/50 Sports Tourer.
Very nice to see, and very nice to listen to as it roared off up the road with abandon and an exhaust note that no modern sports car could hope to match!

Time to admit the biggest marathon session ever for me on Saturday afternoon ... Sunday morning!
Only Tatra beer enjoyed, but in quanties which with hindsight seem unlikely except for the empties!
Seems that Pawel, Eugene and I consumed 24 half litres of the wonderful brew, and it is interesting to think that Pawel went to bed before I went to the off-licence for the second and third dose of eight half litres!
Sunday crept by!
Monday was okay though for me, But Eugene apparently did not surface till Tuesday!

Fancy seeing the back of me?
The good news is that if heredity has its merry way you need not wait long.
The 17th of October 2009 would have been my father's 75th birthday had he not died at Easter 1999, aged 64. His father died at 70, and his father at 47, so I expect to be called in by the Almighty one day reasonably soon! I am 48 in Decemeber, should I be spared ther chance of another birthday party!
It will be a huge relieve for some to wish me well forward into the afterlife - come Heaven or Hell - no doubt ...

It would be fair to think that I had a very pleasant evening drinking Polish Wodka this evening!
Good company, good food, and good Wodka, but first among these is good company!

Before my last evening in Warsaw with Frank and Anna, I went to the Palace at Wilanow [Vilanuff, more or less]. I saw this marvelous Polish couple on the way home!
I think the word is lurve! Notice the fiesty female facing off the almost "ready to leap to his wet fate" male. This is fairly normal Polish female behaviour, and explains why Polish men work so hard!

Dear Poul,
Please watch this thread for I have at least twenty as wonderful from last week.
Well, by now I have watched this thread for many weeks.
The picture above of the ducks is indeed funny, but I still prefer the Stare Miasto picture on my disc top.

Dear Poul,
Best that I send you the originals on CD.
Give the weekend to me to create a CD and send it to you!
I am increasingly shy of posting my thoughts and personal experiences here, as the place seems less tollerant, or possessed of a sense of the whimsical, than in the olden days.

Dear Poul.
Usual computer stuff, I cannot seem to write to CD. Would a USB memory stick be good enough?
Otherwise in terms of being on topic it is my birthday on Saturday so a Friday evening/night/ Saturday morning party is organised. Six including me will have a horribly abandoned time!

Dear George,
A little early, but many happy returns of the day. No doubt you'll have a sip of something rather nice to celebrate.
Happy birthday wishes
George.

I did not post about it but my good friend Pawel's 200 m neighbour [in Poland] died in this horrific Bergen housefire on the 14th of November 2009.
The man who perished with anoter Polish man in the fire was the husband of Pawel's sister's best frend.
One should never plan to have a life tomorrow: Carpe Diem.

Tonight has been a good one. Earlier helping a good Polish friend make a clear email on a problem [and getting a link to the above tragedy - a mixed emotion on that for sure, because we shared a sad enevening in November over it], then listening to some wonderful Bach [about four hours straight through for the Well Tempered Klavier (sic)] and some funny little things on Youtube. The Transfiguered Night by Schoenberg, and Metamorphosen by Strauss. And some splendid emails etc.
All freed up because the 'morrow brings a day off due to the inclement weather!
Dobranoc! George
PS: Perhaps I forgot to mention the fine Polish beer which kept me lucid during the whole evening ...
