Just recieved the remasters on Red Bullet of 'Moving Waves' and 'Focus 3'.

Cleaned up beautifully.

Manufactured in Holland. Got mine from www.cdnow.com

Got both of those on first generation vinyl during O-level year -- still exc. cond...

There is also a very good compilation by Mike Vernon (original producer) called "Hocus Focus: the best of Focus" which has quite a lot of the later stuff which tends to be generally less exposed. Also check out "Introspection" by Thijs Van Leer, and Jan Akerman has also done a lot.

Best;

'Waves is a classic - sits very nicely on a tape with some Chrome tracks on the other side.

For me, the Live At The Rainbow LP is the best listen. Lovely full-range live sound and a killer performance. A classic!

Funnily enough, I have the 'Moving Waves' CD in the car now, and it's great to hear Jan's solo's on Eruption (probably my fav guitar solo's of all time!). 'Waves' was also the very first LP I ever bought and although I don't have a turntable now I would never part with it.

It certainly was a good place to start a music collection! I'll check out the remasters soon.

Regards
Geoff

PS
My 12 year old son and 7 year old daughter both love this CD!

It looks like burning sheds 'prog' offshoot may be releasing some new Focus material. Tim Bowness has a meeting planned in Amsterdam with Tijis van Leer ('When he says meet for a coffee, Tim....)

I'm sure the whistle test DVD has alot to do with this. Anyone who's seen the Focus track on there has gone 'What the hell is this! Amazing!'

Bring back yodelling

I love Hocus pocus. He yodels, whistles, plays accordian, claps, stomps - all that's missing is the farting solo.

God those Dutch drug laws work.

best wishes

Stephen

Yes, I'm a big fan. Have all the records.

Does anyone else have the English pressing of In And Out Of.....Focus with purple cover and mauve dots? It wasn't until just a few years back when those computer-3-D-posters came out that I realized when you stared at the gatefold cover while open and relaxed your eyes that it reads "FOCUS" in 3-D! Clever.

And I concur with kids liking Focus, especially Hocus Pocus. Actually, how can someone not like that that song? (though I'm disappointed when the cut version is played on the radio).

I have an early copy of the vinyl on the original label 'Blue Horizon'.

Supposed to be worth a bit as later pressings were on 'Polydor' I think?
