Genesis - curios enquiry

Growing up in the 80's put me right of Phil Collins, however out of curiosity was any of his Genesis stuff any good and if so where would be a good place to start?

Collins came on after Trespass and was there ever since. Just to be clear.

It isn't his fault they started sucking. Blame it on MTV and the 80s in general. Winker

The three remaining Gabriel-less albums of the 70s were great. So i would say that it wasn't so much Phil Collins that is to blame, nor Gabriel's departure. Times change, bands move on, commercial success etc....

BTW, "The Grand Parade of Lifeless Packaging" gets my personal vote.

Hi Gary,

Have any of these posts helped to answer your original question?

For my penny's worth, I would suggest giving Seconds Out a try and see what you think. It gives a taster of every album from Nursery Cryme to Wind & Wuthering and the drum performances from Chester Thompson & Bill Bruford (with occasional input from PC) are excellent IMHO. It is also Steve Hackett's last Genesis album before he went solo. Looking forward to seeing him at the UEA in November.

Cheers,
