System up and running - a question.

Posted by: Fisbey on 15 December 2003

After 10 months I finally set my system up (CDI, 82 (2 Hi caps) 250 and Arcs - after a polarity error (DOH! Red Face) - I'm up and running. I know it'll be a day or three before I can accurately assess how it sounds in its new room and start playing around with speaker positioning etc. However I notice on this forum people talk about black SNAIC leads - all my SNAIC leads (bar one Hi Cap lead) are grey - is the change to black leads a worthwhile one and what will they do for me?

Any advice would be more than welcome - thanks.

PS Nice to hear the good old transformer hum again!....

PPS I 'squeezed' the rubbers on the puck for the CDI (as suggested by someone) and it plays without problem thus far....

Seasons greetings to all incidentally

My own experience of going from grey to black snaics is that it IS very worthwhile

I know Naim make black SNAICS for Hi Cap to Pre Amp, but what about CD to Pre Amp?

And how much do they cost?

No, the Naim Interconnect (for connecting sources with pre-amp) is grey or lilac/grey depending upon batch.

If you still have NACA4 speaker wire, going to NACA5 also makes a big difference.
