Servicing Olive Kit
Posted by: Laurie Saunders on 28 September 2003
Last time I enquired, about 2-3 years ago, I was quoted about £140 per amp for the "10 year" service. A birdie told me that this has now risen to about £250. I find this size of price hike hard to credit, if true.
My 52/scap/135s will require servicing in 2005...
.....am I looking at a bill of around £1000
(+ p&p) to replace the reservoir caps?
Can Naim please clarify...

No comments from Naim? (or anyone else that has had their olive kit serviced recently)

Tomorrow why don't you pick up the phone and give them a call.
Its good to talk, but not to publish unsubstaiated rumours in a public forum

Naim service prices have risen recently.
£180--200 for a 135 I think.
But the department is not a profit making enterprise apparently--and is thus pretty unique. It is all part of a good will strategy that sets Naim apart. There must surely be a limit to how much Naim can balance this with the desire for good profitability.
Speaking to Mark about whats involved in the recent service of my 4x135's--the hourly labour charge appears to be less than my grim local backstreet london garage charges to mend my car.
The alternative is non Naim gear with far worse residual values after 7yrs and getting serviced(if it can be) with non original or tested parts--and not auditioned after servicing as Naim do.
Keeps me coming back that's for sure.

Recently had my 250 serviced. It did cost a bit more than originally expected (£250 inclusive) but was well and truly in need since it had gone 19 years without attention - my mk1 nait was an improvement it was so far gone. I believe it involved replacing pretty much all the caps, a wobbly fuse holder and three hours labour. I haven't got the original service sheet back yet so there may have been more. Obviously this is not cheap if you're on minimum wage but I consider it to be good value. Fantastic service from my dealer too. And it sounds good. After installing, it took about four days for the bass player to turn up and the singer to lose the sore throat for anyone interested in burn in.

I had my 250 serviced in March for £138. I had my Hicap done at the same time for &100 - both olive units.
