Why is the BBC so **** at judgments?

It's happened again with the fiasco about University Challenge. I said this to a mate yesterday, it's because it's spread over 2 academic years (in Bambi's day the final was in the summer, near - finals), but it's taken Mr Gascoigne to point this out in public.
Just like the Strictly cock-up, they can't admit they've messed it up, and then they make things worse.
Useless!

The BBC is far too disorganised to conspire thus & is not crap IMHO, but it is mediocre at times.

According to today's Times it starts in September. Anyway all contestants have to sign that they will be students for the duration of the competition. Sign up and then not fess up people are bound to think you're crook. The final was filmed in November. Why did it take until now? Did someone at Price, Waterhouse, Cooper phone up the BBC to tell them one of the contestants worked for them now?
It isn't made by the BBC it is made by Granada.

The BBC is still a country mile ahead of all other tv channels, but because we all own a stake in it we feel more obliged to 'have our say'.
Imagine if Channel 5 was 'our' station!
Not sure that this 'latest fiasco' is terribly important really.

Quite he now couldn't sit around the library or computer "cramming" ALL day, as he had actual work to do.So not an advantage I would say.

You've missed something.
University Challenge is made in Manchester by Granada television. Always has been.

About 40% of BBC TV programmes (excluding acquired progs) are made by outside companies for the BBC.

Its a govt requirement now isn't it?

I can't say I like WL, but the BBC can't please everyone at the same time.
Bob
Guidelines for a percentage of BBC TV & radio programmes to be made by 'outside' production companies have been around since the late 1980's. Auntie has been reprimanded for failing to achieve them on more then one occasion.

Doesn't work with a 552 so I doubt it will with a 252 either!

Things must have changed, can't remember signing anything when I was on UC in the early '80s. Appreciated the cheque and still have the engraved fountain pen somewhere, even if they spelt my name wrong on it

Are you sure that wasn't Crackerjack?
