naim and mains cables

took delivery of my 1st naim system friday :-) of 112/150/fc2. wired it up and noticed mains hum from the speakers, so checked all the connections, all ok. I had been using Kimber mains leads from my previous system, so swapped for naims supplied standard iec lead and the hum went. Why?, the plugs are wired up exactly the same so how can a mains lead cause noise?. Otherwise this is the most enjoyable amp combo i have ever owned ( using michell alecto mono's with oreca pre before)
