How to record audiobooks onto iPod ?

Posted by: Rockingdoc on 13 April 2007

I'm sure someone must know the answer, so hope you don't mind me starting this as a separate thread.
Any of you i-tunes wizards able to explain (in simple words)how I can rip a CD audiobook into itunes and and get it into the audiobook section on the i-pod with chapter breaks etc. please? I know it can be done as someone explained to me how in great detail. Unfortunately, we were in a pub at the time.

What is the format of the file - you mention CD - is it a true CD playable on your music CD player or is it an MP3 type file.

I have got a couple of freeby audio books from The Times that I am running into iTunes and thence to the iPod. I do not have an MP3 book to play with.

I've added a script to my Itunes called 'make bookmarkable' which does what you want, I think. This link should get you there, otherwise Google 'make bookmarkable'.

I was hoping to record CD based audiobooks into any file type suitable. As hi-fi is not required, I assume AAC or MP3.
Thanks kevinrt, this appears to be what I was looking for, alas, it is for Macs only and I am a PC Luddite. No wonder I couldn't remeber how to do it without a script.

Sorry, I don't know why I assumed you'd be using a Mac. Here's 2 sites giving instructions for achieving the same with Windows. I haven't tried them so I can't say how well they work.
