A great loss to soul and funk music. One of the true greats of modern music.

JB was one of the real originators in music. A sad day indeed.

I just saw him at the Hollywood bowl this summer. He was great sang a few old standards his way, then he pumped up the party and ended witht eh last 20 minutes with all 25,000 in the audience standing and dancing with his full entourage of dancers and backup singers creating a wonderful romp and stomp grouve. Glad I got to see him.

Not the best way to start Xmas day!
Still, let's remember him for being one funky, soulful mother(better make that father!)

Yep, I guess Gary Oldman and his friend Marilyn won in the end.

Last night the local jazz station put on a tribute showing some of his stuff but interspersed with HOt Hot Hot music that paid tribute, or influenced by him. The latin music was especially wonderful. It was a wonderful evening that i hated to end at 11 pm but I just had to go to bed with the last being a marimba piece that was quite beautiful.
