i don't expect this to get posted. I really just wanted the moderator of the forum to know how I feel.
For the years I have been on the forum, Munch has always been there. It's obvious he loves the forum, by the number of posts.
I don't understand why he wants to bail, other than speculating that his emotions are out of sync with what it is possible to do on any forum.
If he lived around me, I would take him out for beer, vodka and boiled shrimp, and get his head straight, so he could view this forum in proper perspective. Unfortunately, an ocean separates us.
So as a moderator, don't be upset that I will miss him.
I'm an old guy, and it upsets me to lose a familiar face.
I'm still an active Naimer, and in November I will still do my power amp upgrade.
But I will miss Munch.
I think it's a classic case of cutting off your nose, to spite your face.
Bye Munch, for the time being ...

I am sure many of you will be pleased to know that Stu is fine.

I'm sure I saw him in B&Q yesterday.

Good.
Hope to see him back on here soon. Stu is a top bloke and the forum is a richer place for him being here. I hate to see anyone feel that the forum has alienated them in any way as it is like a little club where people look out for each other and Stu is definitely one of the main people who do this. There can be robust debate but friendships do not need to be broken over that. Sometimes it can get a bit out of hand, but it usually gets fixed.
Hope to see you on here soon, Stu.

Hope he's back here soon too...
...especially before the BBQ - which lets not forget, he's to blame for !

I think that's something of an exaggeration Derek. Surely we want a variety of opinion, posting style etc on here. Diversity is what keeps all this from being a dull, PC, nerdfest.
Let's be honest as well, we're talking about music and gramophones here, we're not playing for sheep stations.

What sort of tock is that?

I read that as "BBQ" at first and thought I had missed it!

I could have sworn I saw him in Tesco's later on, at the meat counter (or was it the check-out, I'm not sure).

Munch was an outstanding member, but at least we have an archive of special memories ...

This thread is wrong in more ways than one.
Just IMO.
EX,If i was to tell a joke about a Po*f or a L**bo or a Ni**er C**n or even a P*ki it would be gone in a FLASH.
Next it will be Jews in oven jokes. Its not funny.
But its ok to tell jokes about Children in this way.
And a dead man.
Wrong .
Adam would of killed this long ago.
If this is how this place is going?
Take me off for ever please? and through away the key.
Stu

...and was that you I saw looking at kitchen utensils, 555? (Particularly at the rather pointy ones with sharp edges...)

As I am attending the BBQ it seemed prudent ...

I look forward to meeting you, then

Good to know Stu's fine. Hopefully he'll be back - the place just wouldn't be the same without his passion for music and Hi-Fi.
Looking forward to seeing you at the BBQ mate!

The most recent and classic homophone example was the use of band instead of banned.
Posted on: 02 August 2009 by Stephen Tate
I hope this isn't another publicity stunt Munch

Are we really bothered though, Derek?

Homophonic errors not particularly, but posts containing homophobic & other bigoted abuse obviously yes.

Maybe Naim should change the forum slogan to "we're no one without a Munch"
Come on guys he'll be posting by the end of the month more likely the end of the week.
Maybe its time this forum got back to being what it used to be, discussing music and hi-fi not ego's and other company's products.
Someone asked, not so long ago what happened to all the old favorites, they probably died of boredom. Jeeesus, this forum is dull at the moment.
Could someone please post a stupid photo of someone dying of boredom!

Currently we must beware of the 'no laughing' forum community support officers PB ...

It still is. Look around the music forum. I have new Beethoven on the way because of the good people here.

In 98/99 this(old) forum was the most wonderful place to be on the net. We wrote about other manufactures without issue and we talked about everything without being slammed. Well, unless J.V. thought someone was full of crap. The old forum was extremely focused on the topics presented and the company allowed us to find our way. True, there were times when a few needed to be spanked. It was a great time!!
I think it started to get worse a year or two after Julian died.
The forum was a high performance team working together for the good of all. I miss that.

"No lauging" can be caused by "not funny", of course...
Why on earth somebody should keep and publish a copy of a deleted thread is beyond me, by the way. If the Mods have nuked it, their decision should be respected.
Do you have some kind of axe to grind with Stu? Just wondering, I've not really been here much recently and there doers seem to be a change in tone, if thats the right word.

Mike
I'm happy to keep you informed.
When Stu posted that offensive tripe I reported it using the forum 'alert moderator' tool.
After a few hours it hadn't been removed (this coincided with Richard taking up the reins from Adam),
so I emailed Paul Stephenson with the URL & text.
No surprise the thread was removed in a few seconds.
It occurred to me this was still in my 'sent' box, so I posted an edited version here to provide some balance.
As you need to ask I assume that's a concept you are not comfortable with?

I was about to say "thank you for explaining", then I read your puerile and uncalled-for comment:

You explained your reasons, no need to be insulting.
