Cafe del Sol?

Posted by: Mike Hanson on 21 September 2001

My wife had some time to spare downtown, so she thought she would pick up some music for me. (What a sweet girl! smile) She happened upon " Café del Sol vol.2", which she mistook for part of the " Café Del Mar" series (of which I own and enjoy #6 and #7). Thinking it would be a nice treat, she added it to the pile.

I'm assuming it's in the same genre as Café del Mar, but that doesn't mean it's as good. wink Has anyone else has heard this? If it's great, then I'll keep it. However if it's shite, I want to return it without breaking the seal. Unfortunately, AMG doesn't have much info on this (and they're usually a pretty good yardstick).

While we're at it, can anybody describe "Ibiza" in a succinct fashion?

OK Mike I've got a link with some sound clips from the album...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005BJN1/qid=1001165247/sr=1-/ref=sr_sp_re/202-8295903-3086268

Below is volume 1 - the link also shows the album cover for you to verify (all the Cafe del Plonka titles read the same to me).

Sounds very nice 'n chilled. A bit bare, but from what I've heard on the samples - worth buying though.

Thanks Andrew. I hadn't gotten around to checking it on Amazon or CDNow. Last night I broke down and cracked it open. big grin I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but generally it seems alright (although not as good as the Cafe del Mar stuff). Chilled background music, which is fine.
