Van Morrison@Brighton

Van Morrison is playing the Brighton Dome on the 19th September but is charging £105 for a ticket. Is this good value? Apparently he's banned the sale of alcohol so I'm probably supplementing a closed bar

In my books that is very poor value. I was thinking of attending but a 300+ pound night out with my wife, meal and need to get a babysitter for Van Morrison is just not worth it.

Depends on which Van turns up.
Why does VM need a babysitter?

Yes I did try to word it carefully but obviously failed.

I saw VM the last time 10 years ago in Brighton and the performance was mediocre. Fortunately I paid nowhere near that amount even adjusted for inflation.

I can handle it.

It does pose a problem though. Just what Van will turn up?
I have had the pleasure and misfortune to see Van many times (last time 2006 - £35 for 4th row centre seating) and he was sublime, however he can be a surly bugger sometimes.
A £70 price increase in two years, even allowing for inflation
, not for me I'm afraid.

In the words Forrest Gump; "life is like a box of chocolates....you never know what you're gonna get". Certainly true about Van the man live.
Curious about the no booze. I wonder if it's to limit the phenomenon of wandering around during gigs to stock upon ale and then getting up again to pee it all out?

(Van Morrison)
Don't get around much anymore
The smoke has driven me out the door
All night I used to walk the floor
Don't go to nightclubs anymore
Don't see my old friend Mose
I don't run into Mr. Clive
I cut out all that off the wall jive
I don't go to nightclubs no more
I'm not a legend in my own mind
Don't need juice to unwind
And don't have no need to pretend
Ain't got no huckleberry friend
Alcohol was too big a price
Listen I just said no dice
When it comes to the men and the mice
Don't go to nightclubs anymore
I'm not a legend in my own mind
Don't need booze to unwind
Don't have no reason to pretend
Ain't got no huckleberry friend
Alcohol was too big a price
That why I said hey no dice
When it comes to men or mice
Don't go to nightclubs no more
Don't go to nightclubs no more
Don't go to nightclubs no more
Don't go to nightclubs no more, I'm such a bore
Don't go to nightclubs no more

I just bought some tickets for Brighton. Nine rows from the front of stage for £55 a piece. I am happy with the seat and the price.

How come the disparity in prices quoted?
Posted on: 20 June 2008 by Lontano
There are three blocks of stalls at front. I am in right hand one with the two seats nearest the centre block.
I was offered £105 tickets. Maybe they are centre block at the very front - I said no. Happy to get so close for £55.
