Hey guys...If you're fans, you may already know, but the re-issued box-set I first hinted some details a few months back on has now gone public....

My good friend, 'the fifth Pixie' has dropped some fantastic new imagery to go with it all....

Same basic details and video PR here.

Enjoy Smile

Thanks mate...450bucks is a bit steep. Might be time to lose a kidney.

Looks stunning.

That is a really scary price for what you get. !80g lps are around £20 per record so this is exortionate.

Shame, as they are probably one of most favourite bands.

search Google for mobile fidelity sound lab and search for the pixies,

You can buy Ultra Analog 180g LP & SACD, $29.99, $24.99.

Seems a better option to me!

Yep, my favourite band (and should be compulsory listening in all schools and churches imo).

I've watched Quiet LOUD Quiet however, and it reinforced my belief, that as individuals they all cut a rather unsavoury and sad cloth. Blackie - too bitchy and neurotic, Kim - immature in all the wrong ways, Rock Me Joe - seems ok, like a bystander watching a car crash whilst impassively eating an otdog, Lovering - needs help and isn't getting it. Throwing more money at them will do more harm than good.

I can't justify this expenditure, I've got all the existing vinyl (standard issues) and I'll stick to that. Sad, because the whole package looks stunning.

Mildly depressing for such a great band. Interesting to see what goes into the artwork but somehow I can't get enthused about the end-product. Strikes me as overproduction to the nth degree.

I was a huge fan of Vaughan Oliver in the 80s, 4AD, V23 days. I also liked the Pixies a bit.

The packaging looks lavish, but I can't help feeling that Vaughan Oliver has not developed much from his 80's hey day. I have a couple of his exhibition catalogues/books and although years apart they are very similar.

That said there are artists who's work I love and have not changed much in the last 20 years, but I feel a graphic designer should have changed a bit more.

The second This Mortal Coil cover was my favourite of his work, the typography was fantastic, and a huge inspiration to me.

Were this cheaper I would be tempted by it, mainly for the artwork, but I think there are probably others who are progressing more, and are better value.

(The Firefox spell checker is really getting on my nerves, I can spell English (sometimes) and it can not. I do not want to write in American!!!)

Not sure if you know Vaughan, but there are perhaps a few solid reasons why he hasn't 'changed' as much as you/one would have expected over recent years, trust me...!

What cracks me up, with these video PR releases, confirming in a public manner what I knew privately, is the students doing the work...!! Hilarious.

But then, that's nothing really new. I'm a big fan of all the classic 4AD artwork too, but it has always tickled me how Vaughan garnered all the 'art direction' credit over time.....If only the real truth was widely known on those classic Pixie covers !! Winker

Anyway, still glad this is all happening. I'll admit, I'm hoping to get one of these deluxe sets on the cheap or free, but even if I wasn't, I personally would pay for one....

By the way, if your a Pixies fan, there's more news to come......
