Diccus - slightly worried by your current location (and I'm sure Mrs Diccus would be as well). Are you able to clarify or do I just need to read the papers?? Smile

I actually prferred the Bill Withers gig. Funny though as I am not a great fan of Bill Withers recorded material and have had copies of both Ray's albums from first day of issue.

Me too! Funny how some people only really work live and others only on album (see the Any Winelake thread for an example).

I have seen Ray's live performances three times and agree with the above sentiment...

so far with Ray it just doesn't work live for me, but I love his two albums dearly. However, we must allow for the fact that Ray has been doing this for a very short period of time and there certainly is the potential for growth as a live performer ... right now he has "trouble" maintaining a connection with the audience.

And, in my opinion, we must allow for the production contributions on the recordings of Ethan Johns ... he and Ray make a great team, but again, Ethan can't raise the "connection" live, from the drum kit.

Live, Ray s a work in progress.
