Hallo everybody
Does anyone know about a good collection of Rolling Stones classics on cd? I mean, at least up to Tattoo You? Where to find it etc? Many thanks, and good bye

Yeah sure, just get the first one, Aftermath, Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main St. and Some Girls and you're sorted.

Yes yes . . . but any info on audiophile editions, or simply goor recordings etc?

Thanks, but I mean several original cd records, you got me wrong, but thanks anyhow. The question remains: any advise on good editions of old RS records on cd?

The Decca cd's are on SACD, which won't do you any good on a Naim player but the sound is fairly good. The best sounding Rolling Stones Records cds are, in my opinion, the early ones issued in the 80's which you might be able to scrounge up on Amazon. The remasters from the 90's used Apogee mixers and sound mushy and lifeless IMHO.

The Stones music does not benefit from the "audiophile' treatement as this tends to tame the original raunchy edge of the sonics.

PS. The original vinyl gives you the best of both worlds, good sound and gutsy, raw dynamics, but that's another thread, isn't it ?

I don't agree, I bought the classic post Decca CDs- Sticky, Exile, Goat's, Only RnR, in the LP-style sleeves as first issed, and the remasterings sound great to me. These plus Let It Bleed are the ones to have IMHO.

Those issues sound goo goo to me, but to each his own.

I've never heard an audiophile treatment of a record that I wasn't lukewarm about at best.

As soon as the engineers get a hold of it, and start fussing about the sound, the music tends to go out the window.

The box set of these go for over 1000 usd on ebay. The originals smoke them, in every respect.
